R.W. Tomlinson is an active member of the community. Often we will give tours of our facility to interested groups. Recently, a group from St. Leonard’s Elementary came for a tour. We were more than happy to see the thank you letters from the students. Here is just one example:
R.W. Tomlinson’s business is diverse. And not all of its activities are about road building. Tomlinson is 765 employees working in a fast-paced environment, trying to keep many different clients happy. Tomlinson provides a variety of services that contribute significantly to the economy of Ontario. These services include everything from the manufacturing of roadway materials to excavation, the delivery and placing of aggregates, bridge building and site development. Over the years Tomlinson’s acquisitions have demonstrated not only good business sense, but superior vision, performance and stewardship.
Among its lesser known facilities is a specialty quarry near Sault Ste. Marie, which produces high quality cubical material and ships it to 13 ports in the Great lakes region on a self-unloading freighter. Called Ontario Trap Rock, it has more than 80 million tonnes of diabase and uses state-of-the-art crushing equipment. The 1,000 acre site was purchased in 1994 and shipping began in 1995.
H-Rose
Tomlinson Group acquired H-Rose Machining Ltd. in 2002. In business since 1980, it is a major supplier of precision machined components to the High Tech, Industrial, Defense, and Armaments markets. H-Rose specializes in machining medium-to-high complexity components in medium-to-high volumes, requiring zero defects or component variability. The 20,000 sq. ft. H-Rose facility is located in Carleton Place, within easy access of customers in Ontario, Quebec, and Northeastern USA.
The Centurion Conference & Event Center

Quarry operations
Tomlinson quarries in Eastern Ontario are located on Moodie Drive and Rideau Road, in Sarsfield and in Stittsville. The Brechin quarry, near Toronto, was acquired in 2004 but is not yet operational. Tomlinson has applied to the Province of Ontario for a quarry license to extract limestone below the established water table at Brechin. The plan is to supply the Greater Toronto Area with high quality aggregate.
Roll-Off Services
Tomlinson provides courteous and efficient roll-off container service throughout Eastern Ontario and the Outaouais. We supply single roll-off boxes to multiple units for large corporate clients.
Municipal Waste and Recyclables Collection
Professional, clean and dependable curbside waste and recyclables collection is important to Tomlinson. Municipalities throughout Eastern Ontario — including Ottawa, Cornwall, Pembroke and Petawawa — count on Tomlinson to provide this service.
Springhill Landfill
Tomlinson takes its responsibility to the environment seriously, setting the industry standard for the recycling of construction and demolition debris. The Construction and Demolition Material Recycling Facility at the Springhill Landfill Site is the only one of its kind in Eastern Ontario. It has had a consistent diversion rate of 75-percent.
