Quarry update

The quarry division was busy during the spring crushing season keeping up with customer demand.

A new ultra fines recovery unit has been installed at the Rideau quarry as an environmental protection measure. This Derrick unit actually takes the fines out of the wash water and creates a saleable product so that the water can be recycled more effectively.

A new wash plant has been installed at the Moodie Drive Quarry. The demand for washed fines in the new super pave mixes is steadily increasing. This new Eagle screw should help us meet the demands quite nicely.

Maintenance and fabrication staff are commended for the safe and professional manner in which they met the challenges of these recent installations. The process created extra demands but they rose to the occasion and their specialized skills proved to be invaluable.

The Stittsville quarry is up and running with two new shipping loaders. With the west end of the city growing at such a fast pace the loaders will assist in meeting anticipated demand.

Kudos to the Tatlock crew for doing what they do best this past winter. And doing it in the most severe weather conditions we have seen in years, Great job guys!
