If you walk through dispatch at any time you will find it to be a hive of activity.

On a daily basis Brock and Tom speak with just about every foreman, supervisor and manager in the company. Here is a little bit about these dispatching dynamos! Brock Rivington has been at Tomlinson for five years. Brock started out as a driver. He has worked on snow removal, driven a tri-axle and worked as a float driver. Brock’s official title is now Equipment Dispatcher.

“I love working here,” says Brock. “There’s always something new and it’s a great place to move up.”

When he’s not at work, Brock enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Brock is happily married to his wife, Salma, and very proud of his son, Omar. Brock also enjoys being active. He plays hockey and golf and enjoys going camping.

Tom Desarmia has been with the company for six years. Tom started out on the scales at the Moodie Quarry. He is now in dispatch. Tom says that there are many reasons why he likes working at Tomlinson. “There are opportunities to progress here and the current staff is able to provide a vast knowledge of the business from all levels,” he explains. “There are many long-time employees here, and it instills confidence in the concept that there is still some loyalty towards the people that would like to stay with a company for their working career. There is reward for hard work and honesty. In all, this is an enjoyable place to work.”

When he’s not at work, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife of 15 years, Patricia Wood. Tom also enjoys motorcycling and boating.
