Project Manager – Structures
The Project Manager is responsible for the administration of the divisions’ projects. The incumbent manages all aspects of the projects and is the direct liaison with contract administrators and government agency personnel. The Project Manager is responsible for developing a good working relationship with the team to ensure the success of the projects.
Responsibilities:
- Complete projects on time and within budget, keeping quality at a high standard
- Enforces contract requirements with respect to specifications and standards
- Ensures that all required submissions are complete and submitted within the required timelines
Requirements:
- University degree in Civil Engineering, CET or related field, or an additional 6 years of experience.
- 8 years of industry experience and/or Project Management experience
- PMP designation or working towards a certificate of designation preferred
Field Engineer – Structures and Roads
The Field Engineer reports to the Project Managers and works directly with them to ensure the success of our projects. The roles and duties of a field engineer will be dependent on the overall size and nature of the specific construction projects.
- Assist in preparing pre and post construction documentation
- Identify and communicate contractual and construability
- Implement and maintain active job file - sub-contracts, instruction notices, change orders, correspondence, etc.
- Work in conjunction with (if not serving as) Quality Control Administrator to ensure submissions are completed
- Schedule material supply and ensure accurate counts of the delivered material.
Requirements:
- 5 years of construction experience
- Construction engineering technician or civil engineering technologist, or an additional 4 years of related experience
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Surveyor
As a Surveyor you would be managing all of our CAD data and preparing information for field work. You would provide oversight for all of our survey and GPS hardware. And, you would promote the use of our grade control equipment in our fleet.
Qualifications:
- Technical diploma and trade school certified.
- Fully competent with all site layout in civil and commercial construction.
- Fully competent with total station / Trimble GPS / topography/ 3D Trimble machine control
- Fully competent in Civil CAD 3D
- Knowledge of Trimble Business Centre HCE is an asset.
- Knowledge of Micro-survey software is an asset.
- Communication and managerial skills are considered an asset.
Quality Control Administrator
The QC Administrator will be responsible for the daily co-ordination of Quality Control activities.
Responsibilities:
- Setting up of quality control documentation and record keeping
- Coordinating the testing of material
- Preparing mix design submissions
- Ensuring work procedures and specifications are followed
- Documenting and submitting non-conformance reports
- Conducting concrete tests and soil compaction tests with a nuclear densometer gauge
- Ensuring timely delivery of all samples to the applicable laboratories.
Requirements:
- A minimum of two years of relative materials testing experience and a two year technical college diploma in civil, construction or geotechnical engineering, or equivalent work experience
Foreman – Structures
The foreman provides leadership, schedules, coordinates, supervises and ensures the productivity and safety of the work crew and the public. As a key participant in the relationship with the client, consultants and the company, the foremen acts as a management liaison and a client interface.

Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is usually required.
- Lead Hand or Acting Forman experience for 3+ years and 5+ industry field experience working with structures

Skilled Labourers

DZ Drivers

Fuel Truck Driver
R.W. Tomlinson is looking to fill an immediate opening for a Fuel Truck Driver for the evening shift. This position requires a DZ license and ideally 2+ years of experience. Hours of work will be approximately 2pm- 11pm.
Credit and Collections Administrator
Tomlinson Environmental Services is currently reviewing potential candidates to fill an immediate requirement for a Credit and Collections Administrator based at our office at 970 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, Ontario.
This position is primarily responsible for the collections of the company’s outstanding invoices and for determining credit worthiness of both existing and potential customers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage collection activities (calls and/or written correspondence) utilizing established policies & procedures
- Prepare monthly invoices and assist with delivering invoices to customers
- Assists with month-end and year-end close processes as required
- Review and recommend credit worthiness of both existing and new customers
- Compile appropriate information to support refunds, bad debt write-offs, and adjustments
- Participate in regular AR reviews with team members and report on AR status (AR summary, suspended customers, action item review, etc.)
- Provide professional customer service while trying to resolve client discrepancies/issues
- Responsible for customer account reconciliations (external and related party)
- Accountable for reducing delinquency of customer accounts in a goal-oriented organization
- Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process
- Must communicate & follow-up effectively with sales department regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
Education and Experience
- Completion of secondary school.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a high volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must have very good verbal and written communication skills, be a team player and be able to work with minimal supervision after training.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with MS Office.
- Bilingualism is mandatory (English and French, both verbal and written).
- General accounting experience is an asset.
Survey Coordinator
Tomlinson is currently seeking a Survey Coordinator. In this new role, your responsibilities would include:
- Manage the survey requirements of the Tomlinson Group of Companies.
- Responsible for dispatching, administrating and supervising 3 survey crews
